Georgia Canning is the Founder and Creative Director of GC Dance. Georgia’s passionate about ballet and business, training extensively with The Royal Academy of Dance (achieving Distinction for every examination), Ballet Conservatoire (Vaganova) and The University of Queensland (Bachelor of Communications).

After being selected to perform alongside Queensland Ballet and Australian Ballet company members in various productions and being awarded multiple scholarships throughout her pre-professional career, Georgia studied at The Australian Ballet School where she completed a Certificate III in Dance.

Most recently, Georgia has been awarded a 2016 Gold Coast Women in Business Award and spoken at the 2019 AusDance Dance Educators summit and 2017 TEDx conference – which has reached over 120,000 people worldwide. You can view her TEDx talk about the benefits of ballet here…

Georgia is also a qualified Australian Conservatoire of Ballet teacher and is a registered Trainer and Assessor with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She is also a registered Progressing Ballet Technique instructor and has completed Lisa Howell’s Level 1 Teacher Training aimed at dance teachers who want to understand their students better from a physiotherapy point of view.

Georgia also founded Tutu Times (adult ballet classes) and the Tutu Times Adult Ballet Company who perform twice annually. You can find more information here…

After founding GC Dance and Tutu Times, Georgia thought something was still missing from the industry – a space for people to enjoy and reap the benefits of ballet without having the end goal of being a ballerina. So Georgia created Balanced Ballerinas – a place that breaks down the elitist barriers often associated with ballet so that everyone can enjoy the grace it brings to their daily lives.
