GC DANCE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

GEORGIA CANNING

After being awarded multiple scholarships from The Royal Academy of Dance, studying at The Australian Ballet School (Certificate III in Dance) and appearing in various Queensland Ballet (Sleeping Beauty) and The Australian Ballet (Graeme Murphy’s Swan Lake) productions, Georgia completed a Bachelor of Communications with The University of Queensland.

Since 2013, Georgia has been awarded a Gold Coast Women in Business Award and spoken at multiple TEDx conferences. You can view her TEDx talk about the benefits of ballet here…

Georgia is also a qualified Australian Conservatoire of Ballet teacher and has completed Marie Walton-Mahon’s infamous Progressing Ballet Technique course and Lisa Howells teacher training aimed at teachers who want to understand their students better from a physiotherapy point of view.

Georgia also founded Tutu Times (adult ballet classes) and the Tutu Times Adult Ballet Company who perform twice annually. You can find more information here…

After founding GC Dance and Tutu Times, Georgia thought something was still missing from the industry – a space for people to enjoy and reap the benefits of ballet without having the end goal of being a ballerina. So Georgia created Balanced Ballerinas – a place that breaks down the elitist barriers often associated with ballet so that everyone can enjoy the grace it can bring to their daily lives.
