At GC Dance we are very excited to be able to offer students 13 years and over the opportunity to complete a Cert II or Cert III in Dance.
This is the perfect course for students wishing to validate their general dance classes they already participate in, challenge their choreographic skills and enhance their technique through further education.
This course isn’t just for students wanting a career in dance. The one-on-one mentoring that each student will receive is invaluable and designed to help students reach their full potential in all areas of their life.
We are firm believers in balance and education at GC Dance. By offering this opportunity to students as an addition to their current educational environment, we hope it encourages students to stay at school, complete their QCE and go on to further education.
In partnership with Empowerdance Pty Ltd we are proud and thrilled to begin this learning journey with our students.
Both the Certificate II in Dance (CUA20113) and Certificate III in Dance (CUA30111) are nationally recognised qualifications. Certificate II in Dance is a 12 month course aimed at expanding the skills and competence of the dancer. Certificate III is a 18 – 24 month course designed to further expand the students skillset in dance and dance teaching.
Students are expected to attend an additional 1 hour of theory each week on top of their regular participation in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz classes at the studio. The theory includes (but is not limited to);
- Anatomy & body mapping
- Safe dance practice
- Occupational health & safety in the dance studio
- Designing a project in a group situation
- Assist with dance teaching
- Work effectively in the creative arts industry
The group project will be assessed in a performance setting and as an inclusion in the GC Dance End of Year Concert; where students will stage, costume and choreograph their own piece.
Along with the additional hour of theory each week, students hours during Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary will be logged with teacher feedback and accountability measures will be put in place.
